In our age of inkjets and Bics, an exquisite writing instrument makes a statement beyond its functional purpose. In honor of the second commander in chief, Montblanc has released a limited-edition John Adams fountain pen designed for the “intellectual customer who appreciates the finer things in life,” says Jan-Patrick Schmitz, president and CEO of Montblanc North America. Only 50 pens were produced, each featuring an 18-karat white gold barrel inlaid with hematite and a platinum nib surrounded by 28 brilliant-cut diamonds. Priced at $32,000, Schmitz considers the John Adams a piece of art and an heirloom, “designed to last multiple lifetimes and be passed down through generations.”
